Nigerian Police Launches Operation To Recapture Mubi

Nigerian Police Force have been reportedly directed to lead Nigerian army to recapture Mubi, Adamawa State, seized by Boko Haram.
In the course of the strategic campaign the police mobile unit tagged Operation Guerilla was drafted to confront insurgents, attacking and ‘stealing’ the country’s
North-East, Leadership reports.
It would be recalled that the scandal broke out as it was learnt that Mubi, stormed October 29 by the gunmen, hardly saw the resistance of the army, as the soldiers fled the town moments after the attack.
According to the fresh report, the Police Mobile Force (PMF) special anti-terrorist unit, has already  reached Marraba Mubi Junction, about 18 kilometres from Mubi to win back the town fallen under the control of Boko Haram terrorists.
The police representatives are allegedly being supported by the troops of the Nigerian army led by a colonel.
Excited residents of Marraba Mubi, Yohanna Gambo and Mallam Sanda Zira, said they saw a detachment of policemen keeping vigil at the junction leading to Mubi and Michika local governments.
“We were surprised to see a handful of mobile policemen because since the fall of Mubi, we never saw a security man.”
Adamawa police could not be reached for official comments on the matter, however a reliable source at the police command confirmed the development.
It would be recalled that Adamawa is among the 3 states subjected to the state of emergency due to the persisting Boko Haram attacks. Earlier this year the Nigerian authorities ordered the extension of emergency rule and thus heavy presence of the military.
Meanwhile after another ghastly attack in the state, the youth vigilante group, Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), demonstrated readiness to join the fight against Boko Haram.
