We’re always all about sending love (and useful advice) to our community of writers, but this week we were particularly tightly focused on helping you find more success.
I did a little count of the advice we’ve published this week, and found 10 discrete ways that you can improve your success as a professional writer. Nearly all of them will work for you, whether you’re an employee, a freelancer, or a business owner who supports your projects with content.
On Monday, Stefanie Flaxman explored the not-necessarily-sexy skill that professional writers need — that has nothing to do with your writing ability. (She’s got five of our 10 in here.)
On Tuesday, conversational copywriter Nick Usborne showed us how to spark more “feelgood” brain chemistry with your marketing content — and how to avoid triggering the brain cocktail that warns your readers to “run away from this person as quickly as possible.” (Nick adds a powerful one to our list.)
And on Wednesday, I talked about why some wonderful writers don’t seem to find success, and a few ideas on how to fix that. There are lots of factors that can play a role (luck is one), but I’ve observed three success habits that any writer can work on to find interesting projects and excellent clients. (That’s three more … which are also highlighted in the Copyblogger FM podcast this week.)
If you like podcasts, my Copyblogger FM episode this week is on the same topic: 3 Reasons Why Really Good Writers Sometimes Can’t Find Great Clients.
And if you’ve ever been interested in publishing your own books, join Kelton Reid on The Writer Files for his two-part interview with Mark Dawson — prolific thriller author and self-publishing advocate.
Just a reminder that we’ll be opening up our Certification program very shortly. It’s a four-week course on content strategy, combined with the opportunity for you to get onto Copyblogger’s list of recommended writers. (Yep! This is the 10th way — and one, of course, that unlocks lots of other options for you.)
If you’d find it beneficial for Copyblogger to recommend you to the world as a terrific writer, drop your details here:
