The Internet landscape is constantly evolving which means the best sources of traffic for affiliates is constantly changing too.
Where can affiliates find good traffic in 2017?
There are 5 specific traffic sources that I recommend affiliates test this year. These are all sources I have been running traffic with for the past few months and that I have had some success with.
I will explain what types of affiliate offers I’ve been running and how affiliate friendly each source is.
Let’s start with Bing Ads.
Favorite Search Traffic Source for Affiliate Marketers – Bing Ads
Bing Ads is not a new traffic source for affiliates. Bing has been trying to compete with Google for years. I do not think there is any doubt which company offers a better overall search experience, but there are still millions of people using Bing every single day.
One thing that Bing definitely has going for it is that Bing Ads is a much more affiliate friendly ad platform than Google AdWords, which is why it is my favorite search traffic source for affiliate marketers.
Now, I’m pretty sure I know what your first question is going to be.
Can I direct link affiliate offers using Bing Ads?
Yes. You can direct link affiliate offers using Bing Ads. However, those offers must abide by Bing’s ad policies and guidelines.
Some affiliate network tracking links are blocked by Bing. You will need to setup a custom tracking domain (if allowed) or some sort of redirect to get around that block. Assuming that the offer you are trying to promote follows the policies and guidelines mentioned above, you should have no problem getting approved.
Most of the Bing Ads campaigns I have have setup over the past few months have been for my FPTraffic and Rewst products, but I have tested some PeerFly affiliate offers as well.
I recommend you take a look through our top EPCs on PeerFly if you are interested in running an affiliate offer on Bing.
Make sure you pass QueryString into one of your SubIDs of your affiliate link so you can track the keywords getting you clicks and conversions!
If setting up a search campaign seems like too much effort, you may want to try TONIC instead.
Domain Traffic from TONIC
TONIC is another traffic source that is not new to affiliates, but it may be the first time you are hearing about it.
Or, maybe you’ve heard of it by it’s former name, DNTX.
TONIC rebranded from DNTX last year and they have made some massive improvements (besides their cool new name).
They have a brand new backend that makes creating and managing your campaigns with them much easier.
TONIC has two different types of traffic you can buy from them:
The Zero Click traffic is primarily from domains. It’s called Zero Click because the visitor does not need to click an ad to see your affiliate offer or landing page. They’re taken directly to it.
The POP traffic comes from pop-up (PPV) ads.
I run mostly Zero Click campaigns with TONIC and I usually promote mobile apps or pin submit offers.
The traffic is cheap and your conversion rate on a RON (run of network) campaign will not be very high, but you can optimize based on the source getting you traffic on TONIC.
Make sure you pass [sourceid] into a SubID on your affiliate link so you can track and optimized based on the source!
Running Facebook Ads to Affiliate Offers
Last year, I spent about $25,000 on Facebook Ads. It wasn’t enough to make me rich, but it was enough to give me an idea of what works and what does not work on Facebook.
Can I direct link affiliate offers using Facebook Ads?
Yes. Similar to Bing Ads, you can direct link affiliate offers using Facebook Ads as long as the offer you are promoting follows the Facebook Ads policies.
You will also need to have a custom tracking domain or redirect in place when running affiliate links from most affiliate networks.
Facebook is a bit more picky though, so if you ad gets denied, do not push the issue too hard. They will ban your account. If your ad is denied, try a different offer or create your own landing page and funnel traffic to the offer using that.
I have had many successful campaigns on Facebook direct linking affiliate offers. Like with any traffic source, getting your campaign profitable takes a lot of testing and optimization. With over a billion daily users, Facebook has a ton of room for you to scale your campaigns.
Facebook can give you a ton of data in your reports. Use the Audience Insights tool to help with your initial research and then optimize based on your report data. If you can place the Facebook pixel on your affiliate offer or landing page, do it!
My most successful and long term campaigns have been around building my own audience for a niche. I talk a lot about Facebook Pages, but the audience is really what I’m building. I sold over $100,000 of 1 product last year to a very targeted audience that I built last year using Facebook Ads and Pages. You can do it too. Just test and optimize.
Native Ads using Content.Ad
Early last year, I took my first stab at native at native ads with Content.Ad.
Content.Ad is an affiliate friendly native ad network with a ton of traffic. Native ad networks have been popping up all over the place, but I recommend Content.Ad because they pretty easy to work with, they have a lot of traffic, and they have a low $250 minimum deposit to get started.
Make sure you pay attention to what type of content you select when setting up your campaign. The pricing is different based on the type of content you’re promoting. It’s likely you will need to choose Advertorial or Advertisement, but if you aren’t sure, you can learn more about the content types here.
You will also want to pass [did] into a SubID on your affiliate link. This token will pass the domain ID from Content.Ad into your link so you can optimize based on the domains you are getting clicks and conversions from.
PPV Traffic from RTX Platform
RTX Platform is another traffic source that may sound new to you, but you’ve probably heard me talk about them before.
50onRed rebranded their ad platform last year to RTX Platform.
RTX Platform has 3 different channels you can use to promote (the same ones 50onRed used to have):
I run PPV campaigns on RTX pretty often. I have had the most success with their Pops channel, but I test Display and InText all the time.

RTX Platform has a great user interface and fantastic optimization features. Both of these are still the same as the original 50onRed platform so I recommend you read through those old articles of mine if you are interested in testing them out:
